Hi everyone

Here is an (overdue) update!

Firstly, I hope you enjoyed Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends.

For those involved in Cross Country - please see the athletics blog for an update from
Ms Purvis.

Homework went home today. In Math, we have just started rounding. There are two worksheets in the duotang for practicing. If students are uncomfortable with practicing, they should leave the worksheets until later in the week. We will be working on rounding for the rest of the week.

Homework duotangs can be handed in on Mondays, if students would prefer the weekend for completion. As long as I have the duotangs for Monday when I usually hand out homework.

Math - we are finishing up Number Sense, working on rounding and will have another assessment next week. As per last year, I will send written Math assessments home in a Math Assessment folder for you to sign and send back.

Reading - main idea and summarizing. Continuing to use comprehension strategies and making connections.

Writing - Personal Memoir. We have been reading Patricia Polacco, Mr. Wayne's Masterpiece as well as a number of personal experiences from Indigenous writers about their experiences in Residential Schools. Students will begin planning a personal memoir of their own.

Social Studies - we have started our Early Societies to 1500 CE unit.

Science - We are working on Rocks and Minerals.

French - Mme Hassanle, who is new to Clairlea with the reorganization, will be our new French teacher. She is young and fun and has lots of energy for our crew. French will officially start with Mme Hassanle this Friday. Students have received a little French with Mme Trott and Mme Hassanle will carry on with her own programme.

Teachers have started working on Progress Reports and they will go home early to mid November.

Please keep in touch. Any questions or concerns - come and see me, shoot me an email. Whatever is easier.

Thanks, Ms. Vincent
