Hi all
Looking forward to seeing you all on Curriculum Night. See details below.
Here's what I'm proposing. I will not be doing a formal presentation like last year as I know many of you already. This will give you a chance to meet the afternoon teachers, Ms Vlachos-Daskalakis (Room 206) and Mr. Phinnemore (P2).
For the parents whose students are new to me this year, please come by Room 203 as I would love to meet you all.
For all parents - I will have a general handout and be ready to answer any questions or concerns. I understand the challenges around this year's set up and am more than happy to hear any suggestions you might have regarding communication, homework or whatever might be at the top of your list.
Mr. Phinnemore, Ms Vlachos-Daskalakis and myself are a team and we are committed to making this year successful for every student.
Clairlea Reads
The highly successful Clairlea Reads is back again this year!
This year's book, The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau is this year's selection. Here's how it works. Students (Grades 4 - 8) are asked to find an adult who will read with them: grandparents, aunts, uncles, adult cousins, the woman next door. Find anyone. The book will be divided into sections so that we are all reading the same section together. Next, students only will be meeting during pre-selected times where we will have activities and group talks to help us further enjoy and understand the book. And here's the best part - there will be a Clairlea Reads celebration at the end for students and their adult partners! Please see your child's backpack as I have sent them home with a sign-up form. I would love every single student in my class to be part of Clairlea Reads!
Run Club
Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:40 am. Remember to check the Athletics blog if the weather is iffy. http://clairleaathletics.blogspot.com/
Math and Language Homework from Me
Math and Language homework goes home on Monday and is due before Friday. Timelines are loose for a reason. You all have lives beyond school. However, Parents, I have a reading selection for you to read and discuss with your child. Optional, of course. It's just nice to read and share together.
Please let me know what you need to make this school year happy and successful for everyone.
