February 11 - 15

Hi everyone

We have spent a LOT of time indoors in the last couple weeks and we've been a little stir-crazy. Breathe deeply!

Report Cards and Interviews

• Report cards will go home on Monday, February 11. 
• Parent / Teacher Interviews are not necessary for all students. 
• I have included an interview schedule form in the report card for those families I would like to touch base with.
• Please note - we can do this at ANY TIME during the next couple of weeks (mornings, after school). I prefer to have an in-person session however if this proves too difficult and you would prefer a phone interview, let's schedule a time.
• I can be reached at 416 396 6165 (office) for any questions or concerns you might have. 
• I'm always in the yard after school if you would prefer a quick chat. Do not hesitate to reach out. We are in this together and I am always happy to connect.

Dates and Housekeeping

• Thursday, February 14 - Grade 4 - Winter Activity Day - Juniors 

• Thursday, February 14 - Grade 3 -  Little Red Theatre performing The Snow Queen - $2.00 cash online.
• Friday, February 15 - PA Day - No school for students.
• Monday, February 18 - Family Day - No school. Enjoy this fabulous day off with friends and family.
• Thursday, February 27 - Toronto Symphony Orchestra - $10 cash online - and I believe this is under the Primary Tab rather than the Junior Tab when searching for it
• March 9 - 17 - March Break.
• Art Program - we have been selected to participate in an art program within TDSB. Details to follow.

Term 2 is underway. Here is an update on where we are heading.

African Heritage Month

• We will be exploring and celebrating African Heritage through the lenses of fables, poetry, music and art.
• We will be celebrating Canadian Black Achievement by researching and writing about women and men of Black / African heritage who have contributed to life in Canada in positive ways. 

If you or your family would like to share in any of our learnings, please contact me. Authentic voices are critical to our learning and we would love to have your stories.

• Grade 3 - Living and Working in Ontario
• Grade 4 - Political & Physical Regions of Canada

Science 

• Grade 3 - Forces Causing Movement
• Grade 4 - Light and Sound
• Scientist in the Classroom
• STEM with Ms Brown, once per week for February.
