Visual Artist Ebti Nabag had her final session with us today. Over the last few visits, we have been creating a piece about TRUTH. We've discussed our personal identities, our personal expressions, what we love best about life, what we worry about and what is most meaningful to us. We talked about bullying and honesty and upholding the truth. The dialogue was so rich and tremendously mature and inspiring from these Grade 3's and 4's. Here is Ebti, our crew and the piece they created.
International Day of Pink
Our
Day of Pink lessons, discussions and activities were also rich and inspiring. We read books about challenging gender bias (
My Princess Boy by Cheryl Kilodavis,
William's Doll by Charlotte Zolotow and
Who are You? by Brook Pessin Whedbee).
We were thrilled to be one of the winners of the
Pink Day competition and we got to take home some yummy cookies. I will find out who baked them and post the company name. They were AMAZING! Pictures below of our door and bulletin board.
Special popsicles from Ms Callahan who loved our posters, writing and bulletin board!
Congratulations to Sofia!
Congratulations to Sofia for having her story chosen to be published in
Canadian Impressions, an ESL publication. Only a short time ago, Sofia arrived at Clairlea and worked hard to learn English and here she is, a published author! Congratulations, Sofia! We are so proud of you!
Clairlea & Community Clean-up Day
On Friday, April 12, we did a school yard clean up for our Clairlea & Community Clean-up Day (before the rain came!). Unfortunately, I don't have pictures but we lived the experience! Who knew worms and centipedes could cause so much screaming!
It's been a fun and busy time in our classroom.
